BRINGING BACK YOUR CLASSIC
For the past 16 years, Bob & Joyce Silvers have shared their music with church senior group luncheons, retreats, banquets, and at senior living communities. During the course of some 100 concerts a year, they bring back the songs that touch seniors hearts. Their program includes vocals with tracks and piano accompaniment, old-style sing-along, fun stories, senior jokes, and special occasion songs for patriotic, seasonal, and holiday events.
Songs to Please
When Bob & Joyce minister in song, they weave into their program popular choruses from the past in "sing-along" fashion. With the use of gospel music accompaniment tracks, they present songs in what Bob likes to call "the Bill Gaither style" of music, that blesses, inspires and is understood in a clear, easy-listening manner, sure to please any senior adult group. Joyce's piano medleys also bless the hearts of their senior audiences.
Bob was the longtime religion editor and executive publisher of The Saturday Evening Post magazine. In Bob's appearances at senior adult gatherings, he sometimes shares testimonies of how God has worked through the pages of this famous American institution, where Norman Rockwell once reigned as the popular cover artist and whose editors made this the most popular magazine of the 20th Century. He also shares how former staffer Julie Nixon Eisenhower eagerly looked forward to discussing Christianity with Bob during her weekly visits from Washington, D.C. to the magazine's headquarters.
TV & Media Appearances
Bob has appeared as a guest on national TV programs, including The 700 Club, the former PTL Club, and 100 Huntley Street in Canada. He was a regular guest host for the Today With Lester Sumrall TV program, and Bob and Joyce together served as a guest hosts of the local Praise The Lord TV (TBN) program. Bob was also active as a co-host of the Phipps Gospel Sing television program aired weekly in Central Indiana. He served on the Board of Directors of the Gospel Music Association (GMA) for seven years and was featured in the Pentecostal Evangel magazine, the official organ of the Assemblies of God.
Bob is formerly a lay pastor and Connect Group leader at Calvary Temple (now The Caring Place Church) of Indianapolis. Bob & Joyce also served as longtime board members of Friends Fellowship of Indiana, a ministry to women incarcerated, as music worship leaders. Joyce served for many years as the volunteer coordinator at St. Francis hospital in Beech Grove, Indiana, and was active for many years as a church organist and pianist.
Bob is always ready to show his patriotism. Here, at The Caring Place seniors luncheon, he's singing "God Bless America" for the group.
